The Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Housekeeper/Cook to provide housekeeping support at the residence of the Auxiliary Bishop. This role is a part time (2 days per week) position and is based at the Bishop’s residence, which is located in the Inner West of Sydney.

The Housekeeper/Cook is accountable to the Auxiliary Bishop for the following duties, including:

  • Respecting the teachings of the Catholic Church and the ethos of the parish and Archdiocese
  • Ensure a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained in accordance with WH&S requirements
  • Plan menus that reflect the Bishop’s/priests’ dietary requirements and preferences
  • Plan and undertake weekly shopping, with budget parameters, for household and food provisions ensuring adequate food and housekeeping supplies
  • Prepare and cook well-balanced meals according to daily requirements as well as for special occasion functions on weekends and evenings as required
  • Ensure that cooking, kitchen and dining facilities are cleaned and maintained
  • Carry out laundry requirements including washing, ironing, folding and minor mending. Changing and cleaning bedroom and bathroom linen.
  • Vacuuming, cleaning and dusting of living areas, bedrooms, hallways, bathrooms, as needed

The ideal candidate will demonstrate to have:

  • Demonstrated commitment to the ethos and values of the Catholic Church
  • Previous successful work experience in planning and preparation of meals
  • Previous successful housekeeping experience including: shopping, cleaning, washing, ironing etc in a similar work environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and a willingness to be accountable for their performance
  • Good understanding of WHS practices and hygiene/cleaning practices
  • Professional manner and presentation, as well as good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Honesty, reliability, punctuality and flexibility, particularly in relation to the catering of social functions
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and display sound judgement, initiative and the ability to multi task
