College Counsellor P-12

  • Full Time – Permanent

The College is seeking a registered psychologist to provide professional counselling services to our students. The incumbent is an integral member of the College’s Counselling team which works in partnership with the Principal, Heads of School, and the Pastoral Teams to provide support to a diverse range of students, P-12.

The successful applicant will:

  • be an integral member of the College counselling team and provide outstanding
    support to students
  • assist in the implementation and review of the College critical incident policy
  • contribute to the development and review of student well-being programs
  • provide counselling services to individuals or small groups of students,
  • lead a case-management approach for high-needs students, liaising with
    families and relevant external professionals
  • provide support to staff in their role of supporting students
  • work in conjunction with Homeroom/Class Teachers and Heads of House in
    responding to the individual development needs of students (educational, social,
    pastoral, cultural and emotional)
  • participate in camps, retreats, parent-teacher events, meetings, as appropriate
  • liaise with other professionals in education, health and social services
  • engage in professional supervision and maintain professional memberships and
    adhere to the APS Code of Ethics

It is envisaged that the successful applicant will have the following qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience:

  • current registration with AHPRA as a psychologist, and demonstrated
    counselling experience
  • sound understanding of child protection legislation and children and adolescent
  • ability to instil trust and confidence in the work undertaken with students, parents
    and teachers
  • outstanding communication skills
  • understanding of current privacy legislation and record management systems
    ability to articulate philosophical approach to counselling and to draw on a range
    of relevant, current theories
