About the Role
The Liturgy Office plays a key role in advancing the liturgical life of the Archdiocese by supporting parishes, schools and ministries through formation, resources, policy development and pastoral guidance. Working collaboratively across the Archdiocese, the Office promotes the worthy celebration of the Sacred Liturgy and fosters deeper participation in the Church’s worship and sacramental life.
We are seeking a knowledgeable, collaborative and mission-focused Liturgy Coordinator to join our team and contribute to the strategic and operational work of the Liturgy Office. Reporting to the Director, Liturgy Office, you will work closely with the Director to support the mission, objectives and priorities of the Office across the Archdiocese of Sydney.
This varied and rewarding role will contribute to the planning and delivery of liturgical projects, formation initiatives, policy development and resource creation. You will support parishes, schools and ministries by providing advice, responding to enquiries, developing formation materials and assisting with the delivery of liturgical events, consultations and educational opportunities.
You will also assist with reports, communications, meeting coordination, stakeholder engagement and the efficient administration of the Office while maintaining a high level of professionalism, confidentiality and collaboration.
This is a full-time fixed-term position until 22 December 2028, initially based at St Martha’s, Leichhardt, before relocating to the Archdiocese’s Sydney CBD offices from early 2027. Some evening, Saturday and occasional travel will be required.
About You
As well as your passion for the liturgical life of the Church, you will be an organised, collaborative and service-oriented professional who enjoys supporting others and building strong relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
Specifically, as the ideal candidate for this role, you will meet the following Key Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in Catholic Theology with a sound understanding of sacramental and liturgical theology.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the liturgical rites of the Catholic Church and their pastoral application.
- Passion for evangelisation, catechesis and faith formation through the liturgical life of the Church.
- Experience in parish ministry, particularly in sacramental preparation, liturgical formation or related pastoral ministry.
- Experience working collaboratively with parishes, schools and agencies within the Catholic Church.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- High level of professionalism, discretion and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- A valid NSW Working with Children Check and National Police Check, or the ability to obtain both.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission, teachings and values of the Catholic Church.
