Evangelisation & Administration Assistant

| Organisation Overview: | St Catherine Labouré Parish Gymea is a vibrant parish in the Archdiocese of Sydney. It is attached to a large primary school and is responsible for Special Religious Education in four Government Schools. |
| The Position: | The primary purpose of this position is to assist with the organisation, promotion, and implementation of various parish events. A particular (though not exclusive) focus will be on connecting with the youth of the parish, and provide opportunities for them – as individuals and as groups – to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
A key aim of this position is to be a visible leader who is proactive in the organisation and provision of these services in the parish. To achieve this, the Evangelisation & Adminsitration assistant will be required to: · Work closely with the Parish Priest, Assistant Priest, Sacramental/Evangelisation Director, Parish Secretary, and volunteers to support the vision of a welcoming parish community grounded in “truth and mercy”. · Assist in the coordination, organisation, and promotion of parish events and activities at St Catherine Labouré Parish, including youth-focused initiatives and groups. · Identify the pastoral and spiritual needs of young people within the parish, communicate these needs to the Parish Priest and clergy, and contribute to the development of appropriate responses and strategies. · Build strong and positive relationships with young people, supporting their spiritual and intellectual formation through youth groups, retreats, talks, reflection evenings, and opportunities for prayer and worship

| Responsibilities: | The Evangelisation and Administration Assistant is accountable to the Parish Priest for the following:
· Building relationships with youth; offering youth spiritual and intellectual formation through groups, retreats, talks, reflection nights, worship evenings. · Assist in developing ongoing formation programs for adults in the parish, including ALPHA. · Identify and implement plans for the formation of youth leaders to assist in youth ministry. · Connect the youth of the parish with various other youth events, ministries, and opportunities in Sydney and beyond, such as World Youth Day. · Assist the parish staff in basic IT and administrative tasks. |
| Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience: | The ideal candidate will have:
· A high level of communication skills · A commitment to the Catholic faith and a familiarity with parish life · Qualifications and/or experience in pastoral ministry and/or theology (desirable but not essentail) · A willingness to undertake safeguarding and ministry training · A valid NSW Drivers Licence · Ability to work flexibly |

| Performance Management: | The performance of the Evangelisation & Administration Assistant will be assessed on a regular basis having regard to:
· Their performance on the key responsibilities and attributes for this role · Service levels and the level of satisfaction expressed by key stakeholders · Their ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally |
| Conditions of Employment | 1. The position is casual – approximately ten to fifteen hours a week – with some weekend or afterhours work. Flexibility exists for the successful applicant to negotiate preferred days and daily start/finishing times
2. Remuneration will be negotiated in commensuration with the successful applicant’s experience and qualifications. However, the hourly rate will be significantly more than the award-wage. 3. A 6-month probationary period will apply upon commencement, with a review process at that point 4. The Evangelisation & Administration Assistant will provide evidence of a successful National Police Record Check and a NSW Working with Children Check 5. The Evangelisation & Administration Assistant be expected to engage in an annual performance appraisal facilitated by the Parish Priest |
